Joey's Birthday--in the bucket, as it were...

Joey crawled into bed in the middle of the night, and woke mummy up with a less than pleasant surprise. We held out hopes that he could still go to Legoland with his Dad and friend Calvin...but alas...dreams were dashed down the barf bucket...Luckily Aunt Susan & Uncle John sent Joey 3 sets of Lego Power Miners for his birthday.

Not quite the same as building rocket racers at Legoland, but ...

And then there was Tolka, who wanted birthday presents too, not satisfied with knowing his birthday WILL come next month...
Joey asked us to take down the sign that says "have a super day" (poor guy). And thanked his mum for looking after him. How sweet.
And Tolka is getting ill too, so we have to let him know his long promised trip to the pool today (a reward for a week's worth of good efffort) will have to wait until days when his derriere is a bit more reliable...
Sigh. Life throws us curveballs sometimes...I promised Joey I'd show him these pictures when he's a teen and he'll probably still remember how he felt...

All about Joey

I like football, tennis and being helpful.
But I like being funny as well.
My mum says I’m cute.

Tolka went to a jungle pool.
The giraffe was in the water.
The tiger jumped into the water.
It was freezing cold!
He was sad.
The tiger jumped and he was happy.
The giraffe came out of the pool.
The tiger came out of the pool.
The tiger was dancing.
Giraffe said, “Stop dancing.”
The tiger did not stop.
The giraffe and the tiger danced.

The giraffe can’t dance.
The tiger did a happy dance.
He was tired.
The tiger, giraffe, spider, lion, gorilla, monkey, and zebra were all in the pool!

Note: Joey spontaneously wrote that note on the computer in Microsoft Word while I was upstairs putting Tolka to bed tonight. "Tolka's Jungle" was the result of a project over the break where we did MANY activities related to jungles, and he learned how to sight read many jungle-related words. He made up the story and acted it out with animals and a box lined with blue plastic. Joey took photos, and we 'published' our own little book. They both have such great imaginations. (PS- we have a book called 'Giraffes Can't Dance' which is a lovely story about how everyone can dance when you find the music that moves you...) SIB
